Flowers field

Since 1 January 2019, we, Evelyne and Samuel Mathis-Saladin, have been allowed to manage the flower field on the Bruderholz between the water tower and the Bruderholz hospital. We also manage the flower field on Therwilerstrasse in Bottmingen. On the page www.mathis-blumen.ch you can find out more about our fields, us, and our flower nursery.

Info flower field ”blumenfeld”

Our flower field is located on the Bruderholz, right next to the water tower. There are plenty of parking spaces along the road. By public transport, you can reach the ”Blumenfeld” by bus no. 37, bus stop Bedrettostrasse. Directions and map at: www.mathis-blumen.ch/anfahrt/

The flower field is open daily from March to November from sunrise to sunset

Tipps

Whenever possible, cut your bouquet in the early morning or dull, cool weather. The flowers should be half open or at least showing color.

Place the bouquet in freshwater as soon as possible and re-cut the flowers beforehand.

If you want to give the flowers as a gift, store them in a vase in a cool, dark place until then.

History

In 1990 we started our first flower field. We were among the first farmers in Switzerland to offer flowers to cut yourself. From the beginning, our flower field was a great success, so we opened a second field with roses just a few years later. Cut flowers quickly became an important branch of the business. To get ideas and expand our knowledge, we traveled to Holland several times during this period.

There we visited bulb producers and also looked at other farmers' flower fields.

Since 1 January 2019, the next generation, Samuel and Evelyne Mathis-Saladin, have taken over the management of the flower fields. On the website www.mathis-blumen.ch you can find out more about our fields, us, and our flower nursery.
