Christmas tree sale

Celebrate Christmas with a Bottmingen Christmas tree. Grown here, it has not travelled long distances and is therefore much more environmentally friendly than trees from the north. It is also guaranteed fresh and therefore lasts longer.

As a member of IG Suisse Christbaum, we also have clear guidelines regarding environmentally friendly production.

We sell the trees from the farm from 25 November 2023 (Mon-Sun from 8.00 to 18.00, lunch break from 12.00 to 13.30). Personal advice on the choice of tree is of course included. Come by and choose your favourite specimen.

Info

We sell Christmas trees directly from the farm, from the last week of November until Christmas Monday to Sunday from 8.00 to 18.00 (lunch break from 12.00 to 13.30). We will be happy to advise you personally on your choice of tree. You can find further information on our Flyer.

Types of fir

We want to offer the widest possible range of different types of fir. Each variety has its own advantages and characteristics. Detailed information on the individual varieties can be found in our Flyer.

Prices

The prices of our Christmas trees depend on variety, size and immaculateness. We will be happy to advise you.

Fir branches

You can also buy fir branches for Advent wreaths and Christmas decorations from our farm. You can buy these from mid-November.

Tips

  • Store your tree in a cool, damp place until you are ready to use it and place it in a bucket of water.
  • You can leave the tree in the net until you put it up. Shortly after removing the net, the branches will return to their natural position.
  • The tree absorbs the water via the cambium (directly under the bark). We therefore advise against sharpening the trunk and recommend the Easy-Fix stand (sold in the yard).
  • Buy Christmas trees from the region. This protects the environment (no long transport routes) and you have a fresh tree that lasts longer.

Easy-Fix stand

In the past, Christmas trees were often sharpened. We advise against this, as the tree can no longer absorb water well. If the tree has too little moisture, it will dry out more quickly and lose its needles. We have found a solution with the Easy-Fix stand. A vertical hole is drilled into the trunk from below (we can do this for you in the yard). The tree is placed on the metal tip of the stand and you can then fill it with water. We sell the stands in the farm shop for CHF 40.00 each.

History

A farm is like any other business: it has to constantly evolve. That's why we started planting Christmas trees at the end of the 1990s. On a farm, work is concentrated from spring to autumn. Christmas trees are therefore a good addition, as they can be combined well with other branches of the business. We have been selling our genuine Bottminger Christmas trees from the farm since 2006 and have organised an annual Christmas tree event since 2008.

Cut down your own Christmas tree

A very special experience for young and old. On 16 and 17 December we open our Christmas tree plantation and you can choose your tree directly in the field. If you wish, you can also cut down the tree yourself. We will then transport the tree back to our farm. There we will trim and net the tree according to your wishes. You can take a leisurely walk (1.5 km, approx. 20 minutes) back to Mathis-Hof. If it is too far for you to walk to the farm, you can of course also choose the tree on our farm. There you can enjoy dumplings and snake bread. There are few parking spaces available. It is possible to reserve the tree and pick it up during the week.
